This is a good novel, nothing to say its a must read, even though you would like it. Rachel has some great novels out there and this is good but others are super great.Clare and Sebastien are good together but more deep insight their relationship and more deep seated dialogue to make you sit up and say wow they are great together. Not sorry I read it and believe me I will always read Rachel Gibson and so should you!!!!
After reading this book, I had to check again to make sure if this was indeed by one of my favorite author Rachel Gibson! The book has well developed characters with Sebastian being a true Gibson hero and the secondary characters also hold appeal- one of whom is Lucy from her previous book. So what's the problem, you ask??? Well for one, the romance is missing. It had a promising start but just fizzled out as the book went on, only to pick up again in the last 80 pages or so. Now for a book of about 360 pages in length , that is a serious drawback. I love her previous books which not only have perfect characters, but also have the right mix of passion and romance which she is so famous for, and that's what I found missing in this book. I still look forward to the third in the series and hope Rachel Gibson will bounce back with that one.

From a broken heart, Clare's attraction to the gardener's son turns unexpectedly into love. Another Gibson keeper!
I have read several books by Rachel Gibson, and enjoyed them all. The characters in this book had a history. I enjoyed the byplay between Clare and Sebastian, but it seemed to be lighter than her other books. I think that the characters needed to be developed a bit more, although you could imagine the problems of their youth, and the effect it had on their adult life. I loved the bits of humor that Ms. Gibson always manages to scatter in her books, and of course, the ending!
It is a good slow burn read, with a few touching bits as well as humor. Though there is slightly homophobic moments and a lack of research regarding medical tests & sicknesses. Over all enjoyable book though slightly dated.
Claire writes Romance, but unfortunately picks the wrong men in real life. Her latest disaster turned out to be gay. She definitely doesn't want to tangle with her childhood nemesis, Sebastian, who's the son of her rich Mother's gardener. Sebastian is now a globe trotting investigative journalist, ultra handsome and very sexy. Of course he couldn't be the one.
I fell for Rachel Gibson with See Jane Score, and have picked up one after another of her novels is search of an equally delightful read, only to be left wanting. Gibson did her research for this book, and I liked that the characters had a life and career and are shown working and coming to terms with their lives. It was more talky and 'thinky' than some of her stories, and some have criticized it as being 'slow', but I liked that about it. If I had read the reviews here, I probably wouldn't have chosen this book, but I'm glad I did. I enjoyed it very much.
