What I Didn't Say Keary Taylor Books
This story was so easy to identify with because of the large family and the caring community. We have 9 children in our family and were raised to be considerate of others and do what is right. But people make mistakes and tragedy can result. It is what you do with it that can set the course of the rest of your life. This beautiful story tells of two tragedies and the touchingly sweet love story that is the result.Possible Spoilers:
Jake made the mistake of drinking at a party and getting drunk enough to do something stupid. He got in a car with his drunken two best friends to go tell Samantha that he loved her. Jake had never had the courage to ask his long time crush Samantha out, but thought he found it while drunk. There was a car accident and Jake's throat was punctured by a fence post ruining his vocal chords for life. While recovering, Samantha became very important in making his life worth living and they slowly became involved.
Samantha does not believe in love. Her father and mother were in love, but he left when she was six and her life has been very hard. Jake's accident brings him into her life when she desperately needs a friend and confident. But then her father comes back into her life and wants to take her away and she is desperate to stay with Jake.
Samantha and Jake go through the struggles of a new relationship, misunderstanding, anger, and insecurity which are all magnified by Jake's muteness and the pressure Samantha is under, but they also experience joy, contentedness and ultimately LOVE. I really loved that this story was told from Jake, a guy's perspective. It made it really sweet.

What I Didn't Say Keary Taylor Books Reviews
This book is breathtakingly beautiful and haunting at the same time. I couldn't help but fall in love with Jake as he struggled to deal with his new reality and deal with the one that was forever changed. I fell in love with Samantha too because she never gave up on Jake. She was like sunshine to both Jake and me.
The story itself is a roller coaster of emotions. When Jake was frustrated I felt my heart wrench in my chest. When he realized perhaps he could do this, I felt joy. The story was intense from the first page and I couldn't put it down until it was over. Keary Taylor is beyond talented. She's a new author to me and I'm so glad I decided to read this book.
I think a major part of why I loved this book so much was the realness of it all. There were no platitudes of everything will be okay and both the good and bad got equal air time. We all take so much for granted and it was eye-opening to see how Jake handled losing his voice. This is going to sound really cheesy, but it was as if losing his voice led Jake to find his mettle.
This book will stick with you longer after you've finished the last page. If you're looking for a book that will take you on an unbelievable journey, you need to pick up this book. I'm just surprised it's taken me this long to discover Keary Taylor.
This book blew me away! I don't typically read YA since they're usually a little too tame for my tastes, but every now and then I stumble across one that is so worth it. What I Didn't Say most definitely falls in that category. This is a book I've had on my tbr for a long time and had gotten lost in the mix. I ran across it last night and something about it was calling me in a way I knew I needed to read it right now. So I did. I stayed up all night until I just couldn't hold my eyes open any more. Then when I got up today I finished it. It was an amazing story that broke my heart, made me cry, and slapped me in the face. It made me take a look at my life, which has been having some serious ups and downs lately, and appreciate the things that are up. I think it was the perfect book that I just really needed and it came to me at the right time. I can say with certainty, this was without a doubt, one of the best books I have ever read. I cant even begin to describe all the emotions this heart wrenching tale of two high school kids dealing with such grown up and heartbreaking trials of life brought out in me. You never really think about the things we take for granted until they're gone. Or in this case, you read a book that straight up socks you in the gut with a message so strong you can't help but stop and take a look at your life and be thankful for all you have. ❤
This is the first book by Ms. Taylor that I've read and with all the praise I gave it, you know it won't be the last! The story flowed and there was never a dull moment. The characters were so well written that I felt what they felt throughout. I've also never read a book that was totally from the male's pov. I felt that Ms. Taylor did an awesome job with that as well. And even though this story was about teenagers, I didn't feel like it was too "young" for me. I was engrossed the entire time. I'm so happy that this was my first book for this year. Hopefully it's a sign of more great books to come! -)
